So as a show of good faith, Twista dubs his latest effort Adrenaline Rush 2007. Twista also mixes up the content of this album providing plenty of fast paced hood anthems, along with slow jams, something Twista has become known for over the years. Although the disc went gold, its saccharine sound rubbed die-hard fans the wrong way. In his eagerness to keep the mainstream love going, the Windy City wordsmith oversaturated his next project, The Day After, with R&B duets and pop production. Containing Kanye West’s smash hit “Slow Jamz,” the album earned Twista his first platinum plaque. After a pair of projects with the Speedknot Mobstaz-1998’s Mobstability and 1999’s Legit Ballin’-Twista got tied up in a tug-of-war with Atlantic and Roc-A-Fella Records that delayed his Kamikaze LP ’til 2004. Unfortunately, his career has been plagued by numerous false starts. But it was his major-label debut, 1997’s Adrenaline Rush, that catapulted the Chi-Town MC into the national spotlight. A near classic, only to slightly fall short of the ever-eluding title as a result of some minimal filler and only-decent lyrics.Living up to his old Guinness Book of World Records title of the fastest rapper in the world, Twista has been delivering rapid-fire bars since his 1991 indie disc Runnin’ Off at Da Mouth. Adrenaline Rush is packed to the brim with speed, awesome production, and Mafioso lyrics sure to interest any rap fan and Twista shows why he was the first to sign with Loud Records, the same label that the Wu-Tang Clan was on. And the (actually) good ongoing skit and interesting interlude are indicative of an album that can’t hardly go wrong. Mitchell, Writer - Mike Caren, Executive Producer - Carl Mitchell, Executive Producer - L. The three sex songs and average lyrics can’t detriment this album as much as they would any other rap album. Listen to this album and more than 70 million songs with your unlimited streaming plans. The occasional ode-to-sex song doesn’t help either, but they’re hardly boring because of Twista’s ace rapping ability. At its apex, his mobster lifestyle musings only culminate in above average decency (“Leave you swimming in blood like sea creatures”) leaving something to be desired. But, Twista somewhat falters in the lyrical department. The production on the album is stout – splitting between energized G-funk beats (Nuthin’ But a G Thang is sampled on Mobster’s Anthem) and shadowy piano sample based beats – and serves as a nice, enjoyable backdrop to Twista’s mic-shredding abilities.
Twista being Twista, what comes into question on this album is not his MCing ability, but the surrounding parts which encompass it. Despite little to no airplay outside the region, it went gold.

Twista had been posted up in the rap game since 1992, but Adrenaline Rush was his first full length LP. Arguably the King of Fast Rap, Twista is recognized widely for making hit singles like Wetter (Calling You Daddy) and Slow Jamz, and less known for being able to pronounce 11.2 syllables per second. Since the 90’s Midwest rappers like Tech N9ne, Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, and Rebel XD have made their names for spitting lightning fast rhymes. Rapid firing rappers often find themselves home in the heartland of America. The west coast has its gangstas, the east coast their lyricists, the south its banging productions, and the often unloved Midwest has carved its niche for possessing Gatling gun MCs. Every rap region has its signature style.
